Build a strong foundation in financial strategy and analysis with the Financial Management Graduate Certificate from Temple University’s Fox School of Business. This nine-credit certificate program introduces students to core MBA coursework in corporate finance, economics and managerial accounting—providing the analytical and strategic tools to make data-driven financial decisions in today’s complex business environment. Who should enroll in the Financial Management certificate?  

This program is tailored for current business professionals who want to hone their expertise in financial management through MBA-level coursework but who cannot commit to the MBA program at Fox.  

Why study financial management in the Fox School of Business? 

Fox is offering three related, MBA-level certificate programs focused on key aspects of business management for those professionals who wish to advance their careers. Together, the certificates comprise 27 of the 30 core credits required in the MBA program. Students have the option of applying one or more of the MBA certificates toward the MBA program at Fox. 

Financial Management Learning Objectives 

Students in the Financial Management Graduate Certificate will be prepared to 

  • explore corporate finance concepts such as capital budgeting, capital structure, cost of capital and asset valuation; 

  • learn how to assess the financial health of a company through accounting principles, cost analysis and investment planning; 

  • gain insight into key micro- and macroeconomic forces shaping markets, including employment trends, inflation, business cycles and regulatory challenges; and 

  • develop critical thinking skills for analyzing financial statements, interpreting economic data and applying financial strategies in real-world business settings. 

Pathway to an MBA  

The Financial Management certificate introduces students to key concepts in management theory and practice and provides a valuable credential for advancing or entering a career in management. It can be taken on its own or stacked with the Operational Management and Financial Management graduate certificates to fulfill up to 27 of the 30 core credits required for Fox’s online or part-time MBA programs

Program Format & Curriculum 

The Financial Management will be offered in a hybrid format, with some courses complete in person; however, most will be available online. Students will complete three MBA –level courses as part of the curriculum, totaling nine credit hours. 

  • Accounting for Managerial and Investment Analysis and Planning 

  • Financial Analysis and Strategy 

  • Socioeconomic Context of Business
